I got something similar a while back when aiming. I was aiming at a civilian but it wandered off before I could shoot it, so when I went to aim at another one it said something like 'You stop aiming at Rec#...'. The Rec#... is a critter that goes poof or gets searched. Or so I think.

I'm not sure what happened. I'm guessing that the Kucho that was advancing on me became the default Kucho, so I was trying to pummel him instead of the one at melee with me. I then got punched a lot and had to run away, so I forgot to assess to see if that's actually the case. |

I started advancing a Kucho but killed it before I got any distance messaging. It wasn't advancing me. Then, another Kucho advanced me, and when I tried to retreat I got this:
