sure, why not. but i'm still annoyed there is no men's day or anything.

regardless, here's a women's organization i find cool. this is EDUCATIONAL, people! ya know, because it's international vagina day.

Women on Waves is a pro-choice organization that travels via ship to countries where abortions are illegal, invites the women who want/need them (for whatever reason), and then sails out to international waters to perform them.

the idea of a giant ship sailing around the world to take women out to international waters so they can do what they want/need to do with their uterus impresses me a lot.

i'm so calling them if i'm ever pregnant.

Good job on stealing my alternative name for the day.

But yes, Women on Waves is cool as hell.

Very cool. Pro-choice = win. (unless you're that chick that's had like, 14 abortions.. abortion != birth control, get the pill!)

I'm...pro choice - kinda. I do think that anyone who has had 3+ abortions should be automatically 'fixed' because they are no longer using it for anything except birth control. I believe it should be a privilege, not a right...and if you abuse the privilege, it should be taken away.

...unfortunately with as totally lacking as the medical system is in regard to records, tracking how many one had would be just about impossible.

i agree completely that choice != freedom to just keep stabbing yourself in the womb.

it's supposed to be a panic button, not a normal event.

I disagree with abortion but forcing my personal morals on others is not an option. So I guess I’m pro-life/pro-choice? Confused

I'm of like mind, Aerumna. I abhor the idea of abortion, but I think the higher ideal is in the freedom to make your own choices (as well as empowering yourself to do it), and I'll willingly defend that right for other people.

I feel the same way....though I've never been in a situation where I might have to have an abortion. No rape, no sex with men. I wouldn't want the option of abortion taken away...the world is too crowded as it is and there are pleanty of already born children living horribly...but it doesn't feel right to me.

I agree Dreg, and i'm not sorry if it offends anyone. There's a human life inside the womb that people are murdering in my opinion. I'm not a bible thumper by any means, but I remember one verse from sunday school... "I knew you in your mothers womb." If you don't believe in God or believe that God inspired men to write the bible, then I'm sure you could care less about that verse. The fact remains, that is it a life. Now, we can get into all the "what ifs" you like, but why hash out the same old arguments over and over? Yes, there are sometimes medical reasons an abortion may be necessary, and I think that should be the mothers choice. I disagree with people who use it as birth control though.

hell, i don't have an issue with you being pro-life.

not only does you having or not having an abortion not matter to me (because what bussiness is it to me), but i don't think i'll be having sex with you (and having anything go wrong) anytime soon, anyway.

i mean that in a good way, honest. Wink

Women on Waves rock!! I am very happy that there are organizations like this available for the women who need them. If I had the opportunity, and could speak better Spanish, I'd sooo volunteer.

On the whole pro-choice thing, yes, I am very pro-choice and I totally agree with it not being another form of birth control. I was going to say more than that, but I decided against it since I really don't want to offend anyone.
