it would rock that, when you use the last of a certain pile of ammo, you get a message saying so when you load your weapon.
ie:

You load your field rifle with some soft-tip AG9 rounds from your battered schoolbag.
That's the last of them!
Roundtime: 15 sec. |

It would also be cool if when you tried to fire an empty weapon at a non-aggressive creature, it didn't automatically make them hostile toward you.

Pointing a gun at someone and attempting to shoot them, even with no bullets, sounds pretty hostile to me.
A fix for that would be to just get a message saying 'Your gun isn't loaded' without the aggression from critters.

Actually, even just aiming at something is pretty hostile, if you think about it, but we don't get penalized for aiming, so why using a verb that does nothing but tell us we are out of ammo? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Now, if we got a creature aggressive toward us for aiming too, that would make sense.

Or if it told you how much ammo you load in, for those cases when you don't have enough ammo to fully load your gun.

It's actually a feature from what my shotgun use to be, which there aren't many around. Or so I think.
