I give brokers from 5-10% of the total. Younger brokers tend to get more from me.

I mind giving brokers money. Techs, medics, tailors, etc all provide services that take time and effort (making a backpack, healing a wound, repairing a chip). Brokers just type YES.

There's no roundtime, no effort. Bureaucrats just better at it as they get older because of skills and stats, not because they have to spend several minutes in RT brokering for someone.

That, and giving someone that has more then 5 times what I have a big tip for typing YES kinda bugs me.

But the time and effort to actually get that high matters not? Or the fact that it would take YOU extra time to sell every little item one by one and lose ALOT of money crashing the market as you sold.

Example: $100k total broker. 20%($20k) of that was what Naru got. If the person had sold each item themselves they would have made far less than $80k. ESPECIALLY if their packs are filled with the same item, as alot of people tend to make the same potion\forage the same item over and over and sell in bulk. And each time the seller sold one of those items, the price would drop, plummet in cases of potions since the price drops by unit I believe.

So no, I don't think 30-50% is asking too much at all for saving the seller time and a hell of alot of money.

I'm not trying to change your mind, just pointing out my PoV is different. I try to give at least 10 up to 20 % of the total gross amount to the broker, regardless of how much 'extra' they netted me, what level they are or anything else. Why? Because the majority of brokers have sacrificed skill and stat points in other things in order to be the best broker/lawyer they can possibly be. This means they usually don't have the option to go hunt, and possibly get rares/ultra rares, and various other things, at least with any proficiency.

Besides, regardless of the time it takes them, they are -still- performing a service.

Tip? Shouldn't be a tip, there should be an amount agreed upon beforehand, and I applaud those of you who have taken a stand to do so. Expect Riwa to be joining those ranks once I can figure out what is a fair price for each wound. I'm sick of assholes who don't even say thank you much less pay her for her time and effort.

I'm almost possitive that brokering does this too. It use to be that ever potion of the same type would go for the ticker price, but now it doesn't...each one gets lower and lower, just like if someone was selling by hand....except brokers make the crash less severe.

I believe that brokering and just plain 'crat selling does indeed drop the market, but not to the extent that say...an Artisan would drop the market by mass-selling items foraged.

i tend to tip brokers 50% of the extra cash they get me.

the only exception is if the 50% is under $500. then i might just give them a flat $500 or something. but that only happens in situations with young 'crats.

i don't ask for tips as a tailor because i outright charge. and we all see how fun that is. Wink

i disagree with 'all they have to do is type yes' comment, though. i can't stand it when people think that they're being charged for the five seconds they were around, and not for the x hours/days/weeks/months/etc of effort it took to get to where the character is.

As a general rule, I tip 70 or more percent of what a Crat gets me over base price. This averages about 3000 per brokering with how much I normally have. If its really low, With a new crat or just not alot of stuff, I normally give 100% of the extra. Your paying for the ease of getting it all at once, your also paying for the skill involved. Make it worth it for em.

Brokering does indeed drop the market price of commodities. However, all units that are brokered at once sell for the original price. There is no drop in value until after brokering.

Also, keep in mind that Bureaucrats are the buisness\politician\lawyer-types of Haelrahv and in general those types are usually somewhat wealthy.

ok I tip 10 to 15 percent of the total I get all together, usually since I dont like carry tons around with me this would be more than 40 percent of what they get me, and WAY more than that considering I usually use young brokers intentionally
