Tech repairs.
Shavcire can get repair calls from all over the place and we can go out and fix their stuff...like performers can go out and perform. A little pocket money, a little experience for doing the tech thing, everyone's happy!
Stuff to repair:
Hixes's lab equiptment.
The shuttles at the excavation building.
The screens in the funhouse.
The droids that help the table lady Brenwen or whatever her name is..
The elevator to the court.
There can be tech access passages to these things so it doesn't mess up operation of any of the items.

Wow, you guys are all about the knocking everything I suggest!
Not everyone should go out and perform and get money. But there should be profession based jobs everyone can do. Medics will get NPC healing. Same sort of thing. Crats already do cases. Same sorta thing. Interacting with NPCs to get money doing your job.

I figured you meant essentially taking the Performance system and modifying the messages to be tech-y. Which is why said I the uniqueness of the Performance system would be lessened.

More random trivia:
Performances were something I'd talked about the coolness of, but never intended on actually making a function of the academy. Right before I opened it, I was sitting around trying to think of some use for Maestro Aeleon and the next thing I knew, the Academy had its most appealing (in my opinion) system.

i can't see how performers would be weakened if a tech (hell, or artisan, or whatever) system like their mission system is put out.
to me, that's saying the allure of being an archer is weakened by marksmanship, and they both suffer because of the exotic flamethrowers.
