as the critter look system is now, if someone doesn't train security, they can't get commods, rares, and so on from creatures (unless they find someone who can disarm/pick).
i didn't know that the rare item you get from ruga'sshliss was the result of finding it on him, and not in the box (possibly) dropped.
is it possible that, every so often, an item (ranging from common to ultra-rare) can be found on a critter, just like when you search ruga?
this, to me, wouldn't be unfair because people willing to still carry/pick/etc boxes wouldn't lose out because they can still get two to five items in a box, while items on critters would only be one. maybe make the chance of finding a single item on a critter somewhere between finding cash and a box. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I think that's a really good idea. I also thing that the treasure system should be available to non-hunters. Foraging should pull up some treasure too. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I think the reason behind putting rares and other uber-leet items in boxes is that extra touch of "danger". As in, you might activate a crusher.. or you might get poisoned.. or you might set off some other trap to be implemented in the future. I mean, it would be nice and all, but I'd hope it'd be a tad more uncommon than boxes.

PS: I object to the treasure-through-foraging idea. It'd totally ruin my foraging script. _________________

it's pretty uncommon in boxes as it is, heh. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

That's what fishing for boxes and excavating are for. I think the GMs were quite kind to give us THAT. It's a little silly to make it so that everything gives treasures. Sure, it'd be nice if every performance or so I get a present from a fan that can be a rare item, but it's not going to happen. You can't get everything nice from every system. Pick and choose between the pros and cons of the system you want to do. _________________ >l in corset

Beau actually said he wanted to implement treasure in foraging...and nasty stuff too. It'd be fun to get hurt from foraging too.
Edit: By the way, I like how you said EVERY performance. It might be cool if you guys DID get some treasure boxes from performances! Likewise, it'd be fun if you're digging around looking for ivy and suddenly a used needle! XD _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Honestly, while people can certainly have reason to complain foraging can be boring, people still do it and it's still one of the top methods for making money overall. Short of adding relatively worthless "treasure" in terms of cash value, I can't see any need to add anything to the system. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

what about the original thread suggestion? is it possible for critters to sometimes drop non-cash loot that isn't in a box? just one item from the normal critter treasure system every so often. boxes will still be worth opening because things can come in packs of two to five, which is, well, more than one item. heh. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I'll consider it. Ultra rares would be out of the question though. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

yeah having crits drop items could be fun ... but .. as in that crappy dragon named world i wouldnt like to see rooms and rooms of (carving knives and duff shields) ....
so would it also be possible for say a dying crit to occasionally drop explosives or room cleaning items or fun stuff like ...
a chith drops a ticking device and a rusty knife befor falling down dead
ti c..tic..tick....TICK... BOOM
a blinding flash causes you to temporarily lose your sight . when the smoke clears the room is empty and you notice all your clothes are dyed a deep pink color |

You say that like it'd be a bad thing. _________________ >l in corset
