I'm by far not a religious man, but I'm strongly of the opinion that what's good for each and every individual is what they feel is Good for them, personally -- whether that Goodness is Christianity, atheism, Buddhism, Muslim, or the Church of the Sub-Genius; and that said belief is valid until they feel it's so righteous and/or correct and/or logical that anyone else that doesn't espouse that same belief is utterly wrong (or, worse, worth harming in the name of). Which, in practice (to me), means that anyone that spends any amount of time proselytizing against organized religion is just as bad as the fundamental bible-beater evangelists they hate.

I hope I didn't come off as some christians-must-die kind of person (as I assume that's what you're responding to). I was trying to say that this friend of mine likes to point out the oddities and contradictions in the bible. He means it in a way to show (in his view) how Christianity is retarded; for me, it's just funny to hear some of the lesser known stories. Such as this theory of the world being birthed from another creature.

Oh, no no, it wasn't directed at anyone specifically. I meant to post it back during the same weekend the thread originally started, but totally forgot about it. It was just a catch-up post. <grin> I've personally got friends that exemplify it to a ridiculous degree; like screaming epithets at people coming out of churches as they drive by, making a point to poke fun at people wearing various faith-based t-shirts, etc. I mostly meant I don't see much difference between "If you don't do your utmost to serve God, you're going to hell, heathen." and "Your dead religion sucks and so do you, you witless sheep."... both can pretty much be paraphrased as "You don't think like I do, ergo you're wrong."
