What do you guys think of a death penalty in HR for some extreme crimes(murder and such)?

The idea behind this is a forced restore. Meaning if you get sentenced to death you would have to restore without a medic, which could result in exp loss.

i don't see a point, because all evil characters would then do is get themselves imaged before doing whatever.

tshar and i had just been speaking about your point, yaru .. i suggested that instead of 'death penalty' consisting only of a regular restore, upon sentencing murders actually be thrust into an experience penalty (like a death penalty, but with greater amounts of experience to regain) to prevent that sort of last-second imaging. the second scenario we discussed: after someone commits the murder .. he wont even be able to image because he will not be well-received by hospital. so he will still at the very least be forced to go back to that last image .. i still feel he should have to recover from an experience penalty.

im against the death penalty in principle anyway, but for the game purposes, it could be deterrent.

Yea but this system isn't like DR's. That person won't get arrested immediately upon commiting the crime, it could be hours, even days before a Trooper or Merc manages to get them. Yes they can image, and it will probably be alot of trouble for them, having to image constantly for fear of losing exp.

That's an excellent point and idea as well. Someone wanted for murder definitely won't be able to go and run to image after commiting the crime I would think.

I like the idea of a death penalty without being able to restore, but a 'forced exp' penalty doesn't really seem right to me. A forced exp penalty seems kind of OOC to me. Like, we're gonna make your clone forget some stuff because you murdered a bunch of people.
Maybe they could like, not use an image that was created within a certain amount of time before the crime, but instead go to the one before that, that way it's garunteed that they lose at least something. Yeah, these two things may seem like the same thing, but I think the second one explains it better in an IC way.

Not sure where I stand on this, since I think the penalties for dying are already way too lax.

Of course if it was like a RL death penalty, the convicted would sit around in prison for at least 10 years or so before anyone got around to seeing that the sentence was carried out.

The main idea behind this is the forced restore. It would certainly make 'killers' think twice about commiting murder if they run the risk of losing exp.

it would also make the brats feel like they have a shield to let them do whatever and get away with it, though.

I almost have as much as you Bill, in three times the amount of time.
