I would like to know if anyone could give me some advice about knowing how to win a case with the judge. Is there anything that would give me a clue as to how to argue the cases? The judges always seem be able to follow my logic but in the end I never actually prove my cases. It is very frustrating!

Oh yes, that was a well thought out response, very helpful too I'm sure. [/sarcasm]

Shareen there are many things you can do to help win cases. Spells\powers can help greatly in addition to giving you a great brokering bonus.

Psionics - Alluring aura(raises charisma) and balance(raises intell, mentality and charisma)
Spellsongs - Dance of Temptation(raises persuasion and intimidation)
Potions - Brilliance(intell) and Allure(charisma)
Items - There are rattles you can buy on Chodaku Isle that raise intimidation(they are fairly cheap as well)

I have no idea what cases you are trying but the misdemeanors are the easiest.

It's always best to argue with the highest ranking skill you have. . .

argue - uses 'law' skill
intimidate - uses 'intimidation' skill
persuade - uses 'persuasion' skill

Also remember that cases are still being tweaked and worked on by Rikiar. And Rikiar, please tell me if this post is all wrong since these are mostly my 'opinions'.

You were right on the money Tshar, that post was very helpful to new crats.

Rikiar if you do read this, my broker is really struggling to win cases. With all those boosts that Kit mentioned plus other bonuses from various other things, I do think that it's still a little too difficult. She's 44th and is already at

Total Wins: 56
Total Losses: 29

and those are almost all misdemeanor cases that I bought. I'm not complaining, but trying to give you info on my experience with the cases.

Oh and......Charisma : 130 (175)
Intellect : 101 (121)
Mentality : 90 (101)

Intimidation : 132 (158)
Law : 130 (150)
Persuasion : 132 (154)

Maybe I'm just a sucky lawyer? But if I can't get misdemeanor cases, I can't imagine the skills the felony and capital cases will entail. This is mainly just FYI, Rikiar. Thanks the time you've been putting into crats, I just did want to let you know.

That's weird. My Bureaucrat's got a decent track record (I want to say he's at 30/5 win/loss with misdemeanor cases, but that's probably off a little. And he's nowhere near your stats or skills.

Have you been intimidating your cases, being how that's your highest "case skill"?

And let's not forget that there probably is a hefty luck roll factored into the whole thing. Or the fact that not every case is won in the real world, even by the top lawyers in the land.

I hate to do this but someone else mentioned all the boosts, in all fairness.

Yes I do intimidate , but most of the time I lose. I had a great record before this change. I would imagine Rikiar is still juggling things, and I'd be more than happy to test for you Rikiar. Anytime.

i remember reading somewhere that it's a lot harder to intimidate the judge that convince/argue or whatever the other ones are.

Misdemeanor cases are too easy for my 'crat and felony cases too hard. I use all the different types of arguing and they all fail.

Yes, I'm still tweaking cases here and there. I just did a major change that should allow you folks that are in the upper echelon to start doing felony cases. I haven't really touched capital cases because they're designed for folks that are closer to the 70-100 range in skill. Overall however, felonies should be within the 30-60 level range. And for those of you who are asking...

Arguing methods------Skill Used------Stat Used

Initimidate ------ Intimidation ------ Charisma
Persuade ------ Persuasion ------ Charisma
Aruge ------ Law ------ Intellect

Studying:

-Skills used: Research, Law
-Stat used: Intellect

Hope this helps!!

So are the skill levels required based on the new skill caps not yet implemented? Level 70-100 is the same as 67+ since primary skills cap at level 67.

So you saying felony cases being level 30-60 would need 150+ in skills to be able to do them.

My 'crat is level 49 and can't even study 90% of the felony cases.

Intellect : 110(135 with potion)
Law : 147 (169)
Research : 147

I bought like 50 felony cases and out of those I was able to successfully research one.

Forgery - No
Taking hostage during a crime - No
Possession of explosives - No
Eluding an officer - No
Burglary - No
Identity theft - No
Stalking - No
Domestic violence - Yes
Counterfeiting - No
Commercial computer crimes - No
drug posession intent to sell - No
Bribery - No
Sedition - No
Aggravated assault - No
Assault an officer - No
Aiding in a felony - No

The 'domestic violence' case was the only one I was able to research successfully. Based on new and unimplemented skill levels, this makes alot of sense. As it is now, nobody under level 50+ can do a felony case.

The cases were originally released with the new skill sets in mind. I am slowly working them down toward the current skill set but the more cases that are done, the more accurately I can gauge the numbers. Keep testing them, you should notice them getting easier and paying slightly more, so that those who choose not to hunt can still compete financially.

You should also notice that pleading the case in the manner the judge prefers will benefit you financially and skill wise. Keep an ear out for how the judges respond to your case to figure out how they prefer to be handled. Let me know if there are any problems!
