It would be nice to see Bureaucrats be mayors and being able to effect the economy, and military. Here are some ideas:
1. Have bureaucrats at a certain level be able to run for offices for varying cities every few months.
2. Allow bureaucrats to govern the ecomony and military with a small group, or they're own cabinent and to if they choose go to war with a city for control/pilfering/ and space. This would give all professions more to roleplay, technicians traveling with a group of troopers to repair they're cyberware, agents on Splinter Cell like missions given by they're government offical to obtain intelligence from other cities... Trackers leading troopers on hunts for criminals/war parties, and if the trooper-lead needs to, enlist the aid of other professions for they're individual skills.
This would be rock for roleplay. |

I doubt it will be available in the current test game, but in Live we plan to incorporate politics into the game with Bureaucrats in mind specifically. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

That's a pretty sweet idea. I'm all for citizenship systems, too.
The only problem I can see is that, if Live's still going to be setup the way Trevor initially described it, your starting city is going to be predetermined based on your profession. So you're going to have a lot of disproportional "teams" as far as skills/abilities go.
True, people can always migrate until they find a city that they like, but a lot of newbie characters/players will get caught in the crossfire. Of course, they'll be in the crossfire despite what city they elect to initially spawn in. So I guess my concern is moot.
Again, great idea.

I have another idea for the ecomony.
The economy can be made wholly by the actual professions. Have technicians work in a factory to make technological things that will actually be sold in a store. Hire people with woodcrafting skills do the same, artisans to create artwork for homes. And have Performers strip or dance in parties, political or not. So on and so on. This would give everyone a task, and a choice to hunt or work.
The money from this would be used for the upkeep of the city and paid to government officials/troopers and otherwise.
Newbies would only be in the backdraft and not able to perform any high ranking activities, I would say have them either train until they grow older or give them city related tasks to complete.
Example:
Trooper- Police a never ending low level critter invasion.
Agent- Spy on drug dealers and what not.
Mage/psionic- Give them a tower to practice magic and an area to forage for ingredients for potions.
Crats- The norm of low levels.
So on and so forth. Have the mayor/governor make things for people to do and keep the city thriving.
And why wouldn't this idea be used in the text version? Archea does it. -frown-
Just a few ideas. |

If my profession gets demoted to the lowest common denominator solely for the purpose of a player-built economy, someone's getting punched right in the piehole. Take that, Mister Mayor.
And I think it's safe to say that any game that isn't HR sucks. _________________ An eye for an eye; but my eye's worth more.

Fine. Performers will become pop superstars.
Mercs will be hired to destroy the pop culture that most likely starts to ruin Haelrahv.
Am I the only one who sees Gawyn as possibly a Performer? I mean, sure, he has a lot of 'crat blood in him, but he also does tend to have the Performer-style splendor about him. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

No, he's definately a crat-type. Or a merc type. I mean, he's deadly when he turns mean and goes shooting people. I love that about him. He's not just rich, a playboy, a buisness mogel...he's a very very dangerous man too. |

I wonder if Trump's ever shot a man (just to watch him die).
