Well, Beau's 'Home' topic combined with all the questions I get about Japan made me think about putting this up. Here's a few pictures from Misawa.

A light snowstorm. This was taken in mid-afternoon and the white 'spots' are snowflakes, of which there was so much it made the picture come out looking like it was nighttime.

A...thing. This was a structure at a museum around the corner (the Veedol museum, look up Miss Veedol on the web, it's fairly interesting). It had like 12 buttons on the rail where you could turn various parts of it on...but I'm still not sure exactly what it 'did'.

Two of the most common sights in Misawa:

and

Engrish, anyone? A few signs around the area that I've found humorous.

and this one really scares me...

Yokohama waterfront:

and a park at the waterfront:

and Yokohama's China Town:

The busiest square in Tokyo (and this wasn't during peak time or even on a weekend):

and

That's all for now.

Sorry about the bandwidth thing, I'll upload smaller versions of the files so it won't happen as often.

Hah, it's okay. I really do think you should use photobucket.com, just because it offers a lot more webspace, bandwith, and organization.

Okay, the pictures are all now at least 75% smaller. In an hour when my bandwidth resets, people shouldn't have any trouble accessing them. I normally resize first, just wasn't thinking today.

Another password and id I have to remember... Cool

Seriously, I'll look into it, but I really don't use geocities for anything except posting stuff here.

My take on the whole thing: Geocities, ew, ew, ew, kill it make it die. Thank you.

It's not that bad when it's just pictures, they can't put their stupid pop-up code crap on there. But for the most part, yeah, I agree.

I don't particularly like it either, but using it keeps me from trying to remember *another* user ID and password. I already have Yahoo! so I can read the player run groups.

That too. I ONLY use it for pictures to post here because we can't actually insert photos in the forums, has to be a link.

Oh, I forgot to add a few things.

1. It snows here like 8-9 months a year. Last winter was said to be 'extremely mild', hence why a lot of the Misawa photos are snowless. I'm sure I'll be getting a lot more snowy photos this winter, in addition to more Engrish. Gotta love it.
2. Yokohama, for those who don't know, is near Tokyo. If you notice the blue sunny skies, it's because it -wasn't- in Misawa. We get that a few weeks of the year here.
3. If you'll notice the 2 large buildings in the Tokyo square, the entire faces of the buildings are gigantic television screens. Pretty cool.

Tokyo was incredibly crowded and hot when we visited, but we had a wonderful time. I'd recommend visiting Tokyo at least once to anyone. Spring is best, because summer gets super hot (as we found out), and fall is typhoon season.

And, if you didn't do it after my first post, go read about the original Miss Veedol:
