Ok, here's a thought. Research stations. You research X, at said station. If there's some kind of tech skill out there, there must be a certain amount of Tech Research completed. Don't make it where 1 tech can fill up the research required area. Maybe have multiple areas. Pulse Technology. Medical Technology. Communicator Technology. Droid Technology. A Medical technicians droid could only come out after a certain amount of research had been done for both Medical, and Droid Technology's. I know this is a complex, and fairly outlandish idea, but it's the only way I could forsee tech's being the "Designers and inventors" of HR. I would love to know how ugly my idea is. Also, I would think it would give XP. Could anyone do it? I don't think so. I don't want a Tech only thing, but how else do you explain the Creative process of Tech's? Ok, an example. Traps. Before we can make our own traps, we have to Research lock technology, and mechanics technology. I know the idea is new, and probably a pain, but does it have ANY merit? This could also be possibly an extention of "Data Mining" As we dig for Alien information, we might find tidbits to add to our "Research Pool" I don't expect that each Tech would have a pool, or that they would actually be able to personally use the pool. Just that each tech would put in their own bits towards the betterment of the entire race. Metallurgy tech could lead to better swords being possible by only the most skilled of Swordmakers. And by far from every time. The possibilities are endless, but I don't know if it's worth it. That's up to the Good leadership, and They know far more then me what's possible and what's not.

As an edit, I don't know how this would affect, or be affected by, Magic in all it's forms. How about if certain sciences were better studied by certain professions. I would love to say make Tech's the knowitalls, but maybe Medics could study Medic Tech better then we could. It's just a thought.

"Unlocking" abilities game-wide via research, quest, etc are all doable ideas we might very well put into play at some point. Smile

I really like the idea of data mining. Perhaps when we can jack ourselves into computers (Drake did say it was implemented, but the computering system wasn't out yet) we can do hacking (I want!!!) or other sorts of thinks...while you do computer research, jacking in might be able to give you access to deeper documents, could help you understand those documents (brain to information directly, bypassing reading), or could reduce roundtimes.

Well, that's a neat thought. I never considered Jacking in. I personally would figure that would give a greater yield, rather then lesser roundtimes. At least to me, the hardest part of data mining wouldn't be reading, so much as actually getting to the juicy files.

And Thank you, Trevor, for making me feel like I am not a complete idiot anymore!! Very Happy
