For some reason, I have to log in twice to get to the boards.. and when they finally sign me in, there are no new posts for me to read.
My cookies are deleted everyday, so if that's the problem, I don't know..
It's annoying. _________________ Leli Saceia |

The cookies thing could be the problem. Also, which site are you going to? I've noticed that if I go to http://haelrahv.com/messageboard instead of http://www.haelrahv.com/messageboard, it doesn't remember my name and such. I haven't had any problems, though, so I don't think it's a problem with the boards. |

Which URL do you use to access them? Do you access them directly via your favorites list / entering the URL, or do you use the message forum link on the website? _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Try using http://www.haelrahv.com/messageboard/index.php
Cookies need to be kept, of course.(Can probably set your browser to keep haelrahv-related cookies...damned if I know how, though)

I believe you don't have to keep cookies beyond your visit, you can trash them after, but you'll have to retype in your username and password on each visit. I believe the tracker for which posts are new is NOT in the cookie, but on the server. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I don't care about the cookie. My problem is that it logs me in, but it doesn't log me in, and then when I really am logged in, none of the posts are appearing as new. _________________ Leli Saceia |

In the beginning, I had that same problem with that too. Actually with ALL the forums that use this PhP board thingie....
But suddenly it stopped being a problem. No clue why or how. *scratch head*

I normally enter the boards via Haelrahv's main page.
Some nights I have to log in over and over, but sometimes I dont have to for days at a time. |

I'm thinking it's probably session cookie data not being deleted. The best thing to do is:
- Close ALL i.e. windows
- Delete cookies manually, don't use control panel or IE options.
- Reboot
Or you could try Mozilla, Netscape, Opera etc.
I am going to try to install a mod that will alter how posts are marked read but it won't be tonight, maybe not even tomorrow. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

You should really do that anyway, if you use IE now. It's almost to the point that it's dangerous to use IE because of the security holes being found. |

I'll clarify a bit
I had the exact same problem as you, Leyhan.
Using http://www.haelrahv.com/messageboard/index.php seems to alleviate it.
Ever since I started using that link(as opposed to the mainpage link) I've been properly auto-logged in.

That's correct, I delete my cookies just about every day, and you have to re-login, but it saves what you've seen and what you haven't.
Btw, I'd suggest Avant Browser myself, as an IE alternative. _________________ You are Normal And Boring Sorlan Freelance, a Human. |
