I thought I'd post info on one of our non-playable races. They have a language players can learn to speak/understand.
Scephyst: Living in the deepest jungles, and having little to no contact with the other intelligent races, the Scephyst live as they've always lived blissfully unaware of the Human/Darju arrival 300 years past. Definatly from snake ancestory, they have evolved far beyond their lowly origins. The Scephyst come in two breeds, constrictors, worker/warrior types, and venemous, mage-priest/leader types.
The vast majority are of the constrictor type, and live in huge "mounds", underground cities, where they have breeding pits for small animals they eat live. The venemous ones live segregated in towers near the mound.
Physically, the Scephyst only bear superficial resemblances to their serpent ancestors, they've evolved arms with three fingered hands, the thumb sporting a large talon. They haven't evolved legs persay, but they do have leg stumps they can use to maintain balance when reared into an upright position.
Culturally, they live under an unusual philosophy...they believe they're dead, and this is their afterlife, to enjoy as they please. When they die they return to the "real world" and resume their duties as soldiers in the armies of their pantheon of constantly warring gods.

I just read it! The image of Dixie hissing and nobody being able to understand her is too tempting to ignore. |

Yeah, I don't think she'd have much of a chance to learn it. The Scephyst would gobble Dixie up before that first attempted hiss came out of her mouth _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

One of the ways I came up with the name for myself was by combining the names of the animals Viper and Wolf. I really want to be a scephyst, so why not make them playable? Are they just too damned good? God I wanna be one |

I don't think it would really be an issue of them being 'too damned good', but more an issue that the GMs can only make so much in X amount of time. Don't forget, GMs have to make a system of checks and balances for each character, as well as have a reason to have them that makes them unique. |

There are some races we just don't want to be playable too. Is Scephyst one of these, or will it be implemented as a playable race? I guess wait and find out is the most appropriate answer. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
