I was curious as to melee weapons, there going to be swords and such correct?
I was wondering what the benefit of a sword over say.. a gun, would be <g>.
Also, I've never played MO, so I dont know if melee weapons are used there, or how they work out. _________________ Dragoonseal |

Yes, MO has swords etc, tho I can't say I'm patterning Hael's system after MO's. I'm sure there will be some similarities, but some aspects of MO's combat system happened the way they did because I didn't want to radically change the system on folks when we did the skill change.
Generally, melee weapons are sturdier so they need less repair, they'll be cheaper to buy, upgrade and maintain, and they'll also be less powerful than say a gun or pulse rifle. Things like pulse rifles are incredibly powerful but incredibly costly, so you'd best have a nice bankroll if you wanna keep a decent one in good condition.
Haelrahv will have swords, knives, clubs, nets, grappling hooks, whips, spears, polearms, staves, you name it, as well as bows, crossbows, guns, pulse weapons, etc.
Additionally some other objects will act as weapons, such as droids, explosion potions, magic, psionics, horses, etc.

How about claws? The picture of the Alteri looks like a big mechanical hand claw thing behind his head, am I seeing that right? _________________ Dragoonseal |

I forgot to mention, a nice chunk of unarmed attacks and such, including some special Guardian only varieties.

I hope for a good number of racial and class dependant unarmed moves, and perhaps even stat based ones. All in good time though.
I'm the brawler type, its my primary. _________________ Dragoonseal |

*laughs* At the risk of getting myself lynched before the game even begins... you boys and your toys! By the way, I thought whips and claws were more of a female's weapons. *looks around innocently* |

Well, after playing a Prydaen for a few years, I can safely say claws work for guys too ;D. And girls dig'em too <g>.

Funny, I virtually never played a Prydaen. Of the "expansion" races, the most common I played was Kaldar. My primary character was an Elothean Moon Mage, who couldn't carry a mortar and pestle without being heavily weighed down. <g>
I started DR in beta, as a human thief, but played almost all the classes to at least the 10-15 circle mark except empath.
Despite the fact they are incredibly self-specialized as a race, in Hael, Jaddan have a special place in my heart.

Dragoonseal's just trying to figure out how he can manage to have a tail as a Jaddan or any other race. Implants, maybe? |

<laugh> be a Scephyst. Er, well, they're not playable. Do a lot of drugs. Don't mind the toes growing out of your forehead, perfectly normal.
